Why the New Rules Were Introduced

Corrections Will Follow a Stricter Process
Any change in name, spelling, date or parental details will now require additional verification and sometimes an affidavit. Authorities have emphasised that these corrections must be applied within the specified timeline. After this period, corrections may require approval from higher authorities.
Birth Certificates to Serve as a Universal Document
An important part of the reform is that the new digital birth certificate will now serve as a universal document for multiple purposes. It can be used for school admissions, voter ID application, PAN card, Aadhaar, and even government benefit schemes. The unified format reduces the need for repeated verification in different departments.
Parents Advised to Complete the Process on Time
Officials have urged parents to complete the registration process within the recommended time frame to avoid delays. Hospitals will continue to assist in the initial steps, but final verification must be done by the family. Late registrations may require additional documents and verification checks.
